Protection without a domestic relationship. We file and defend 50C Civil No-Contact Orders statewide—ex parte relief, full hearings, school and workplace protections, online harassment and stalking, and enforcement that law enforcement and agencies can follow.
Krispen Culbertson, North Carolina family & protective-order attorney with 20+ years handling 50C Civil No-Contact Orders—stalking and unlawful conduct, ex parte relief, full hearings, school/workplace protections, online harassment, and enforcement.
Memberships: North Carolina State Bar; local family law sections. Courts: District Court calendars statewide with regular hearings in Guilford County (Greensboro/High Point).
Who qualifies for 50C: people without a qualifying domestic relationship (neighbors, coworkers, classmates, strangers). If you have a domestic relationship, 50B may apply.
Ex parte timing: same-day emergency orders are possible. A full hearing follows quickly with notice to the other side.
Relief available: no-contact, stay-away zones, workplace/school protections, electronic/online restraints, and other necessary terms.
Duration: orders commonly last up to one year and can be extended with the right evidence.
50C protects victims of stalking or unlawful conduct without a domestic relationship to the respondent. If you’re spouses, former partners, co-parents, or household members, 50B is the typical path. We confirm eligibility at intake so your case lands in the right statute.
Emergency ex parte 50C
We prepare a sworn complaint/affidavit and seek same-day relief when risk warrants it. We coordinate sheriff service and written instructions that schools and employers can follow immediately.
The full hearing
At the hearing, both sides can present evidence and witnesses. We build a timeline with texts, emails, call logs, GPS/metadata, police reports, and eyewitnesses. Relief can include no-contact, geographic buffers, and online restraints tailored to your facts.
School & workplace protections
Orders can protect your campus or worksite with stay-away zones, notice to administrators, and rules for entrances, parking lots, and events.
Online harassment & cyberstalking
We capture screenshots, headers, and platform logs; preserve metadata; and request terms that stop DMs, tags, fake accounts, and indirect contact through third parties.
Evidence that helps
Time-stamped texts, DMs, emails, voicemails
Screenshots and links to posts/stories; account IDs
Photos/video of incidents, vehicles, and locations
Violations may trigger arrest and criminal charges. We also pursue civil contempt and fast hearings. Keep a log and save every message; we organize proofs for enforcement.
Extend, modify, or terminate
Before expiration, we can seek an extension with evidence of continued fear or new incidents. Changed facts can support modification—or termination when appropriate. We align terms with any custody/support orders to avoid conflicts.
